The Bavarian club will welcome in refugees as well as donating €1million to projects - following on from the remarkable acts of kindness around Germany

Bayern Munich have opened their doors to refugees amid the European refugee crisis.

As with other major European cities, Munich is facing an influx of refugees from Syria and the Middle East - and is becoming particularly challenging for the state.

Bayern have vowed to open a 'training camp' in the coming weeks which is open to homeless refugees and will provide football equipment, German classes and meals.

The Bavarian giants will also donate €1million towards the refugee projects - money earned from a friendly match this summer.

Set up through the youth department at the club, it is aimed at the children and adolescents of refugees to give them a "determined rhythm of work".

Bayern players will walk out during their next home game, September 12 vs Augsburg, with a German child in one hand and a refugee child in the other.

The club hope that it will "set an example for the integration of refugees".

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, chairman of Bayern Munich, said: "Bayern sees it as his social responsibility to help the refugees, needy children, women and men, to help them and to accompany them in Germany."

Munich's mayor, Dieter Reiter, added: "Bayern is setting an important sign, and I am pleased with the strong commitment of the association. That's why I also like promised the support of the City of Munich. "

German Bundesliga clubs have been rallying over the past weekend to refugees, with a host of clubs sporting banners reading: "Refugees welcome".

Last week, Borussia Dortmund even invited 220 refugees along to watch their home match against Norwegian side Odds Ballklubb in the Europa League.

Their club's official Twitter account posted an image of a host of the refugees, who were sporting Dortmund memorabilia.
